Im Seamus Caoilte and Im local to this spot and am very familar with it and its stories. I have climbed to the caves and the summit on many occasions and even took a budding Archaeologist to the cairn.I have used this Iconic photo which I took in spring,2020 of the hill as the main backdrop on my website and it has proven very popular for me.The Caves of Keash are located at the lower part of Keash Hill and consist of sixteen chambers.There is a large cairn,known locally as the pinicale on the hilltop at 359 m (1,178 ft).To get to the cairn it is more easily accessed from Cornaweeleen at the northeast side of the hill.The Caves of Keash and the hill are linked to myth, legend and folklore. The legendary High King of Ireland, Cormac Mac Airt was said to have been born at the foot of Keshcorran, and was reared by a she-wolf in one of the caves The caves also feature in stories of Fionn MacCumhaill, who had to enter the caves to seek out the otherworld smithy of Lon MacLĂomhtha. Another story featuring the caves tells how Fionn and his Fianna were captured and bound in the caves by three hideous hags. Diarmuid and Grainne are said to have taken refuge from Fionn Mac Cumhail in the caves.Great views of Roscommon, Mayo and sligo are to be had from the caves and 360 Degrees from the top.

This Hill is situated in the southwest of County Sligo in the Northwest of Ireland. The distcintive profile of The Hill of the Fairies will be a familiar sight to anyone who passes up and down the N17 between Tubbercury and Collooney. It has cairns on its summit that were used as burial chambers centuries ago. It is grazed by sheep owned by a local farmer as it is too dangerous for herds of cattle. It is popular with hill climbers and folk who like the outdoors. There is a popular song written about this area entitled "The Hill of Knocknashee". www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMmVSXUmASU

The Coleman Cottage,
The Coleman Cottage,
The Coleman Cottage is to be found in Mount Irwin, Gurteen, County Sligo on the Ballina road and near the original Coleman homestead. This cottage is a replica of the original Coleman cottage. Tourists can see how people lived in Ireland in days gone by.The building is built with sandstone which was readily available in the area and has a traditional thatched roof. The cottage contains furniture, crockery and other items which date back to the 1900's.Michael Coleman was born in this area and as a child he learned step dancing and fiddle playing, and performed at local houses. His elder brother Jim had a high reputation but was never recorded. In his formative years Michael was influenced by Uilleann pipers including Johnny Gorman. In October 1914, at the age of twenty-three, Coleman sailed to America with his friend John Hunt.Coleman was the most famous exponent of what is today known as the Sligo style of Irish fiddling.He made numerous recordings on 78 records.Patrick Feeney who resides in the area and hails from Culfadda just a few miles away recorded his video for the song," Old Dan Tucker " in and around this cottage.
